Scoot on up for funds

RALEIGH — S2, a local scooter group, is hosting a fundraiser for Interact on Aug. 13 from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. starting at Moore Square (across from the Berkley, 217 W. Martin) and ending at Neptune’s Parlor at 13 W. Martin St.

This event — “Don’t hide, come out and ride!” — will raise monies to help support the work that Interact does in providing free therapy and services for women and children who have been victims of sexual assault or domestic abuse.

Enjoy a benefit ride through downtown using scooters, bicycles, skates, motorcycles, segways and more. A dance party will cap off the evening’s event at Neptune’s.

Cost to participate is a recommended monetary contribution, or toilet paper and toiletries to be given to guests of the Interact shelter while they get back on their feet. DJ Pancakes will “flip hot tunes.” Phoenix and The Empress, a premier hula hoop troupe, will also share their dance talents.
