More Than the News

For more than 40 years, Qnotes has told the stories shaping LGBTQ+ communities across the Carolinas. The Q by QnotesCarolinas expands that mission through monthly conversations about the news, culture and people making a difference across our region.

Hosted by Liz Schob, Chann Daily and Vanna Vanity, each episode brings thoughtful discussions, special guests and perspectives that go beyond the headlines.

What does it mean to belong, and how can connection, culture and community shape our well-being?

In Episode 2 of “The Q by QnotesCarolinas,” Liz Schob, Vanna Vanity and Chann Little explore those questions as we recognize National Suicide Prevention Month and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Vanna takes us behind the scenes at Charlotte Pride with Lolita Chanel and Oso Chanel of LOC Productions. We get to know the queer Latine duo behind LOC, talk culture, drag, representation and community, and see them take the stage during Latin Hour. Then, Liz sits down with Charlotte psychologist Dr. Holly Savoy for a conversation about mental health in the LGBTQ+ community, how to recognize when someone may be struggling, how to start difficult conversations and what meaningful support can actually look like.

Plus, Liz, Vanna and Chann catch up on some of the stories Qnotes has been following across the Carolinas, including a new queer space coming to North Charleston, a Huntersville wedding venue that declined to host a same-sex couple and proposed changes to voting in North Carolina. And Chann reminds us that our community is about more than the difficult stories with another Good News Corner.

Three hosts. Three perspectives. One conversation.

Liz, Chann and Vanna bring different experiences, interests and connections to LGBTQ+ communities across the Carolinas. Together, they create conversations that are informative, welcoming and never boring.
