In Episode 3 of “The Q by QnotesCarolinas,” Liz Schob, Vanna Vanity and Chann Little explore those questions as we recognize LGBTQ+ History Month and National Coming Out Day.
We begin inside Invisible Histories, where co-founders Joshua Burford and Maigen Sullivan, PhD, take us through an archive preserving pieces of LGBTQ+ life across the South, from photographs and newspapers to flyers, Pride programs and the everyday things people decided were worth saving.
Then, with Halloween right around the corner, Vanna lightens things up for this month’s Arts & Culture segment with makeup artist Daniel Sexton. Daniel demonstrates fun Halloween makeup looks while sharing tips and tricks along the way.
Liz sits down with Joshua Burford and Maigen Sullivan, PhD, in the studio for a deeper conversation about how LGBTQ+ history is preserved, whose stories have been overlooked, what we’ve already lost and what future generations may learn from the history we’re creating right now.
Liz and Vanna also welcome Cameron Pruette, executive director of the Freedom Center for Social Justice, to the table for a conversation about the upcoming election, what LGBTQ+ North Carolinians should know before casting their ballots and how the choices we’re making today can shape what comes next.
And Chann closes out the episode with another Good News Corner, celebrating three milestones in LGBTQ+ life across the South: Greensboro Pride bringing a Pride parade back downtown, Georgia electing its first openly LGBTQ+ member of Congress and Equality North Carolina marking 47 years of advocacy.

A journalist, strategist and systems thinker, Liz is passionate about helping people understand not just what is happening in LGBTQ+ communities across the Carolinas, but why it matters.
Her work spans reporting, social media, audience development and community engagement, with a focus on making local journalism more accessible, relevant and impactful. Before joining Qnotes, Liz built a diverse career in public health, education and nonprofit leadership, experiences that continue to shape her thoughtful, people-centered approach to storytelling. Chann Little, aka Chann Daily, is an entrepreneur, storyteller, and creative strategist who believes the most powerful way to bring people together is through shared experiences. As the co-founder of How Sanguine, an award-winning culinary and cultural brand, he has built a business that sits at the intersection of hospitality, storytelling, and community. From immersive dining experiences to cultural programming and brand collaborations, Chann is passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, connected, and inspired.
