On April 5, Eli Clare is coming to Davidson College to lift his beautiful and unique voice of poetry on the issues of queerness, disability and injustice.
Traveling around to share classroom presentations, readings, retreats, classes, and workshops, Clare funnels his natural skill with words to educate and advocate for gender, racial, and ability-related equality.
Clare, who identifies as white and genderqueer, is also disabled. He lives in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Among his writings are a book of essays, “Exile and Pride: Disability, Queerness, and Liberation,” and a collection of poetry, “The Marrow’s Telling: Words in Motion.” Clare’s numerous speaking engagements take him to teaching gigs and other events across the United States and Canada.
The reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The audience will gather in the Alvarez College Union, Room 900 C. Shaw Smith, on the campus of Davidson College, 207 Faculty Dr., Davidson, N.C., 28035.
