Community members will gather in somber reflection at several events scheduled across the state tonight to commemorate International Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The international day is meant to mark the loss of transgender community members who have lost their lives to violence. The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs has tracked at least eight other deaths in the U.S. this year — four in June alone. And organizers of the International Transgender Day of Remembrance have tracked far more outside of the U.S.; they list a total of more than 60 deaths across the globe. See our feature report for more details on the events and incidents this year.
