After the Orlando shooting claimed the lives of 49 people and injured dozens more, the largest mass shooting in modern American history, the debate over gun control is stronger than ever.

The issue divides the LGBT community, like the rest of the country, with some arguing that stricter gun laws will keep us safer and others argue that they will do just the opposite.

The Human Rights Campaign has announced it will begin lobbying for stronger gun control laws. Meanwhile, USA Today reports that the LGBT gun rights group Pink Pistols has seen their membership increase since the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Florida.

North Carolina is considering placing a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would, “repeal the provision which provides that the General Assembly may prohibit the practice of carrying concealed weapons.”

The Senate recently blocked four gun control measures, one put forward by each party. At time of writing, House Democrats are holding a sit-in, demanding action on guns.
