HICKORY, N.C. — ALFA, Western North Carolina’s AIDS service organization, is gearing up for its first-ever AIDS walk, the Hike for Hope, inspired by the popularity of AIDS walk events held in and around the Carolinas’ larger metro areas. ALFA leadership is organizing their own unique take on the idea. On April 24, supporters and community members will take to the Catawba River Greenway in Morganton, a popular destination for walkers, runners and cyclists.
They’ve announced their first corporate sponsors for the event: Premier Screen Printing and Morgan Law, PLLC.
“ALFA’s community partners are the force behind our ability to achieve HIV/AIDS medical case management and early diagnosis and prevention counseling to those people who are most at risk for infection,” says Rodney Tucker, ALFA executive director, said in a press release. “Those businesses owners that see a benefit in a healthy community have been some of ALFA’s strongest supporters by sponsoring our long history of special events. We are committed to carrying off an event that is worthy of this generous corporate support.”
More information about sponsorship opportunities, ways to participate and a calendar of other events are available on the Hike for Hope website at ALFAHikeforHope.org. You can also contact 828-322-1447 ext. 223 or email alfadev@alfainfo.org.
ALFA, a United Way member agency, is a nonprofit organization serving Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Watauga, and Wilkes counties.
