CHARLOTTE — An LGBT community town hall with Mecklenburg County Commission Chair Jennifer Roberts originally slated for next week was canceled by organizers on Friday.

Mecklenburg LGBT Political Action Committee (MeckPAC) steering committee member Roberta Dunn announced Friday that scheduling conflicts would prevent Roberts from attending the event. The forum was to be held on Thursday, April 28 at the Lesbian & Gay Community Center.

“With great regret I have to cancel the open forum with Jennifer Roberts,” Dunn said via email.

Roberts will instead be in Boston, presenting at a conference hosted by Harvard Business School.

The forum with Roberts would have been the third such community town hall with local officials hosted at the Lesbian & Gay Community Center. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe and Mayor Anthony Foxx both attended forums last fall.

Dunn said the event may be rescheduled.

Matt Comer previously served as editor from October 2007 through August 2015 and as a staff writer afterward in 2016.
