There are several LGBTQ+ inclusive events happening across North Carolina, from the Triad area to the communities surrounding Mecklenburg County. Pride Winston-Salem is one of the organizations putting together events for this month, and on April 13, the group will host a name change clinic for trans and gender-nonconforming people in the community.

The name change clinic will be conducted in partnership with the Transexpansive Network, an initiative meant to help provide resources and connect trans and gender-nonconforming people in the Winston-Salem area. The clinic has appointments available for 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at Wake Forest University’s School of Law at 1834 Wake Forest Rd. The event will allow individuals an opportunity to meet with attorneys and legal professionals to discuss and/or begin the name change process. To find more information about appointments, interested folks can go to the Pride Winston-Salem website at https://pridews.org/.

Pride Winston-Salem will also have a special kind of drag brunch at the city’s newest speakeasy the Rosemary Room, located next to Vintage Sofa Bar. “Speakeasy Drag Brunch” will have two separate events at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on April 14 and will serve as the Rosemary Room’s grand opening. Tickets for the 21+ show costs $15. More information about the event can be found on Pride Winston-Salem’s Facebook page.

South of Charlotte is the town of Waxhaw, where Union County Pride will be holding the free-to-attend Build Your Voice Conference on April 12 and 13 at the Atrium Health Waxhaw Community Room. The event is split into two days with the hopes of reaching out to LGBTQ + youth and young adults, parents, educators, business owners and politicians to learn, share and connect in support of the queer community. The Friday session will start at 9 a.m. and go until 5 p.m., focusing on parents, activists, attorneys, teachers, non-profit organization staff and other adults. The Saturday session, which takes place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., will mostly target teens and college students along with parents in a separate group. To RSVP for the conference, go to Union County Pride’s website at https://unioncountypride.org/shop/ols/products/2024-union-county-pride-annual-conference
