ASHEVILLE — Actress Andie MacDowell has joined forces with filmmaker Rod Murphy of 614 Films to produce a documentary about the Gay Miss Latina Transgender Pageant, according to the Asheville Citizen-Times.
The Ashevile-based Mexican immigrant transgender beauty pageant will be held on Nov. 6 at the Diana Wortham Theatre, 2 S. Pack Sq., and will be emceed by Latin TV entertainer Cachita.
Paul Schattel, an award-winning writer/director, has added his talents to the project. He owns Harrow Beauty Pictures, a film and video production company.
Cachita, a comedian, is a MTF transexual who relocated to the High Country from Miami. She was recently at the Fiesta Latina celebration on Oct. 2 in Fletcher. She also has plans to assist transgender and transexual clients through Western North Carolina Community Health Services.
