Wilmington is having a blast with their Pride activities this week and among them is a new film festival showcasing LGBT films. If you’re in the spontaneous need for a quick vacation getaway this weekend, we bet Wilmington will be a fun choice.

Lynn Casper of the new Triangle-area and Wilmington HOMOGROUND, a new social, artistic and networking group for queer and indie musicians and bands, has been working with others to present the new Pink Sheep Film Festival. The event is slated for this Friday, the night before Wilmington’s Pride Rally.

The film festival will screen several independent and foreign shorts and two feature films. “Whistlin’ Dixie” explores Southern queer rock and features local bands from the Triangle area. “Put This on the Map” is a film by 26 young people in Seattle exploring gender and identity.

Catch a few good trailers below, visit pinksheepfilm.wordpress.com for more info on the film festival and wilmingtonpride.wordpress.com for more on other Wilmington Pride events this week.
