People are raising their eyebrows at one of former President Donald Trump’s latest endorsed candidates: a beyond spiteful pastor who has publicly called for the death of queer and trans folks.
Meet Pastor Mark Burns: a South Carolina man running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully in 2018 and 2022, but this year, Burns has received the endorsement of Trump, making him the favorite to win his conservative district’s seat.
“There are many great conservatives exploring a run for that seat, but Mark Burns has been with me from the very beginning of our movement to Make America Great Again,” Trump stated, adding, “Pastor Mark Burns is an America First fighter and has my complete and total endorsement.”
Burns’s stance on LGBTQ+ issues goes beyond the rhetoric of your stereotypical homophobe — he’s gone as far as to say queer folks are “treasonous” and should be “held accountable” for their acts.
“The LGBT, transgender grooming of our children’s minds is a national security threat because it is ultimately designed to destabilize the republic we call the United States of America,” he said after an appearance on The Stew Peters Show, a YouTube podcast. “That’s why, whenever I’m elected, I want to start holding people accountable for treason to the Constitution. I’m going to push to reenact HUAC… We need to hold people accountable for treason, start having some public hearings, and begin executing those who are found guilty of treasonous acts against the Constitution of the United States of America…”
Since those 2022 comments, it seems Burns’s opinions regarding the LGBTQ+ community have remained the same, as he called this year’s Trans Day of Visibility “blasphemous” and “an insult to the millions of Christians who celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
The South Carolina Republican primary election for the seat is set for June 11. If Burns were to win the primary, he would be the GOP nominee for a seat which has been held by a Republican since 1995.

You call yourself a child of God but then you try to put to death God’s children and degrade God’s children? That’s the same as saying you’re a Christian but you can’t stand people of color. Who are you to judge? Who are you to do God’s work? Y’all people that call yourselves followers an believers are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical assholes who are considered blasphemy by God himself. You have no right to judge others or decide if they should live or die. That’s not your call. You need to step down sir. An whoever else agrees with your dumb bs laws. this is bullshit.
Rebecca.. thank you very much…
God is love . I thought ministers are supposed to welcome sheep into the fold.. they’re servants of Christ..
But Ms Rebecca we are living in the Last Days and all the signs we are seeing “must come to pass, so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.
God is love and whosoever liveth God should love abundantly… but I’m not hear to judge.. Matt 7 vs 1
John 3vs16
