Choruses set for concerts
RALEIGH, N.C. — Members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington will be visiting the Tar Heel State on June 18 where it will protest HB2 and show its support of the transgender community.
According to The Washington Blade, around 80 members of the chorus will “sing several ‘pop-up’ concerts,” including ones outside Gov. Pat McCrory’s mansion, 200 N. Blount St., at the State Capitol, 1 E. Edenton St. and at Logan’s One Stop Garden Shop and Trading Center, 707 Semart Dr.
Accompanying them will be Raleigh, N.C.’s Triangle Gay Men’s Chorus and Greensboro, N.C.’s Triad Pride Men’s Chorus.
The Blade reported that the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington’s Artistic Director Thea Kano said, “We are eager to show our support for the transgender community in North Carolina and raise our voice for LGBT awareness.”

Elders gather for picnic
CARY, N.C. — SAGE Raleigh will host an Independence Day picnic potluck on July 4, 1 p.m., at Umstead State Park, Reedy Creek Entrance, Shelter #2, 1800 N. Harrison Ave. (Exit 287 off I-40 at N. Harrison Ave).
Bring a dish and beverage to share. Hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, ice, plates and plasticware will be provided.
Celebrate the holiday with family, friends and allies and enjoy game play during the afternoon.
