Foundation seeks gala award noms

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford Green Foundation is accepting nominations for its annual Gala awards.

Categories are: Visionary, given to an individual who has championed the vision of a better world for the LGBT community; Distinguished Service, given to an individual who has provided years of outstanding service to the Piedmont Triad LGBT community; and Distinguished Leadership, given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership for a specific event, project or situation.

Nominations are due by Feb. 29. Forms are available online and once completed, should be emailed to leighanne@ggfnc.org.

In other news regarding the Gala, attendees are encouraged to dress up in one’s best red carped glam or favorite Hollywood icon. During the festivities, there will be food and cocktails, live entertainment and a silent auction. The silent auction will utilize mobile technology and registration is available online prior to the event for those who want to get a jumpstart on how to use the Handbid.

Tickets are going fast and should be ordered quickly, organizers said. They can be purchased in two installments.

Grant cycle opened

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Adam Foundation has shared that its 2016 grant cycle will open on March 4.

Applications will be accepted until April 30. For those who were 2015 recipients, a report is due by Feb. 29 in order to maintain eligibility for  2016 grant funding.

Applicants’ work must be centered in the Forsyth County and adjoining counties and Winston-Salem, N.C. area and be targeted to the LGBT community.

The volunteer grant selection committee will begin reviewing applications after the April 30 deadline. Upon completing review, the board of directors will make a final determination regarding grants and notice will be provided to all applicants in early June. Grants will then be presented at the foundation’s 2016 Community Grants Presentation scheduled for early July.
