CHARLOTTE — The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte will host a community forum tonight to discuss the differences and diversity among the LGBT community. The forum, “A Penny for your Thoughts,” is presented by Chi Psi Omega, an African-American and lesbian social and service fraternity.

Several panelists will discuss how the LGBT community handles its differences and talk about ways it can keep those differences from becoming divisive.
Panelists include: Rev. Sonja Lee, executive director of the Lionel Lee Jr. Center for Wellness and Board Chair for Unity Fellowship Church Charlotte; Sharika McFadden, therapist and founder of 3’s Love, Inc.; Jill Phillips, co-owner of Hartigan’s Irish Pub; Cathay Dawkins, executive director and founder of Beyond the Arts, Inc.; Ilya Parker of The Awareness Movement; and Cody Weaver, a volunteer at Time Out Youth. The forum will be moderated by Shane Windmeyer, co-founder and executive director of Campus Pride.
Complimentary wine and water will be available. Light refreshments are provided by Wet Willie’s of the NC Music Factory. The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Center, 820 Hamilton St., Suite B11, Charlotte, NC 28206.
