CHARLOTTE — Statewide LGBT advocacy and education group Equality North Carolina will host their final town hall on the ramifications of the recently-passed anti-LGBT state constitutional amendment tonight, June 28, 7 p.m., at the Wells Fargo Auditorium in Uptown at 430 S. Tryon St.
Since June 4, the group has hosted a series of community forums across the state. Charlotte’s, their fifteenth, will be their last. Other stops on the statewide forum tour have included events in Greenville, Raleigh, Siler City, Kitty Hark, Durham, Wilmington, Asheville, Morehead City, Southern Pines, Winston-Salem, Hickory, Bakersville and Spruce Pine and Boone.
Equality NC, along with the Human Rights Campaign, American Civil Liberties Union-North Carolina, Southerners on New Ground and other coalition partners, have used the meetings to provide an opportunity for supporters to look forward and learn how together the community can continue to fight for full equality by electing pro-equality legislators, being effective grassroots leaders and providing vital work by sharing personal stories.
A forum in Greensboro on June 18 drew out over 100 people.
