“War on Terror: Inside / Out—Photographs by Christopher Sims and Stacy Pearsall” juxtaposes the work of two artists: Sims’ photographs capture simulated Iraqi and Afghani villages in the U.S. where troops train prior to their overseas deployment; while Pearsall, a military photographer, shows troops in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“At the Heart of Progress: Coal, Iron, and Steam since 1750 — Industrial Imagery from the John P. Eckblad Collection” includes approximately 75 pieces selected from the collection of Dr. John P. Eckblad. The exhibition includes works that explore the world of coal production and consumption, featuring such artists as Camille Pissarro, Theophile Steinlen, Constantin Meunier, Joseph Pennell, C. R. W. Nevinson and Craig McPherson, as well as a wealth of commercial and documentary imagery.

North Carolina artist Anne Lemanski presents her first solo exhibitionincluding three-dimensional “skinned” forms as well as a new series of two-dimensional pieces. Lemanski recently exhibited in “Possibilities: Rising Stars of Contemporary Craft in North Carolina” at Charlotte’s Mint Museum of Craft and Design and is a former resident artist at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina.

Sharon Louden: Taking Turns

Louden’s solo exhibition will take place both inside and outside the Museum. The gallery exhibition will include paintings and a new animation. In addition, Louden will create a fiber-optic piece in the Weatherspoon’s sculpture courtyard.
