NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The inaugural LezzFest 2013 will be held on May 18, 12-5 p.m., on E. Montague Ave. between Chateau and O’Hear Ave.
The event is being coordinated by the Charleston Social Club to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
Lynn Dugan is co-founder of the festival, as well as the social club and Charleston Pride 2010. She said that the block party is a free, non-political event that celebrates Lowcountry lesbians. Participants can dance, play and socialize while enjoying camaraderie. “We welcome all people to come have fun with us, she added.
Jamison Alley, Elaine Townsend and Momma and the Redemption are scheduled performers. An after party will follow later in the evening, as well as a beach celebration the next day.
Vendor space and sponsorship packages are available. Volunteers are also needed.
At press time, a host hotel had not been established, but organizers said that it hoped to have news shortly on where festival goers can stay at special rates.
On March 9, the club sponsored LezzBoyz at the Pierpont Pub featuring Sean, Dominic and Brenden Kelly of A Fragile Tomorrow with Justin Moffitt.
