Fan-favorite “RuPaul’s Drag Race” queen and entertainer Shangela is making a stop in the Tar Heel State later this spring for her comedy tour ‘Ha-Ha-Halleloo.’ The show will start at 8 p.m. on May 19 at The Raleigh Improv in Cary, located at 1224 Main Street.

“Shangela guarantees a night of sickening performances and hilarious comedy in her newest production Ha-Ha-Halleloo,” the event description states. “Buckle up, baby because you’re about to join her in a side-splitting evening created especially for the fans.”

Shangela, whose full stage name is Shangela Laquifa Wadley, is a dynamic and multifaceted entertainer who has made a significant mark in the world of drag and entertainment. Born D.J. Pierce, Shangela first gained widespread recognition as a contestant on the hit reality competition series “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” She initially appeared on the series in 2010, and was the first contestant to be eliminated in season two, but was allowed to return for season three, much to the delight of her fanbase. 

Her infectious personality, quick wit and undeniable talent captivated audiences, leading to her becoming one of the most memorable and beloved contestants in the show’s history. Since her debut on “Drag Race,” Shangela has continued to thrive as a drag queen, actress and singer, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in both the LGBTQ+ community and mainstream entertainment. Some other notable accomplishments include guest appearances on shows such as “Glee” and “Community,” as well as being a finalist in the famous competition show Dancing With the Stars. 

Beyond acting, Shangela has proven herself as a skilled performer and entertainer through her live shows and tours. Her stage presence, combined with comedic timing and powerful vocals, have earned her acclaim from audiences around the globe. While busy Shangela’s talent continues to inspire and entertain audiences at home and abroad, she’s bringing her uniquely crafted stage show to Cary, but just for the one night only. 

The ‘‘Ha-Ha-Halleloo!’ show will include performances from Shangela alongside local performers, giving several Triangle-based entertainers a chance to share a spotlight with the accomplished drag diva.
