Comedian Ian Harvie will perform on Friday, Oct. 1
and at the Pride Charlotte festival on Saturday, Oct. 2.

A new date. A new location. Organizers say Pride Charlotte is set to be cooler, bolder and better than ever.

The 2010 Pride Charlotte Festival kicks off on Oct. 2, 11 a.m. at the NC Music Factory, 820 Hamilton St., in Uptown Charlotte. The Music Factory, located just off Graham St., is home to some of Charlotte’s newest and hippest bars and clubs and to Pride Charlotte’s parent organization, the Lesbian & Gay Community Center of Charlotte.

More than a dozen feature entertainers are set to grace Pride Charlotte stages, including singers Pepper Mashay, Richard Cortez and Gordon Roque, along with Sharon Hazel, Rodie Ray, Jill Austin and SK8. Also on the line-up: Comedian/actor Ian Harvie, Charlotte Pride Band, Mid East Dance Ensemble, participants from this year’s Pride Charlotte Pageantry System and Roxy C. Moorecox. DJs will be spinning all day on the Dance Stage.

Other than official Pride Charlotte events during the day, there will be plenty to keep you busy. On Oct. 2, Brief! a Fete for Fashion brings the hot guys and underwear back to the runway stage for a second year’s benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Afterward, the boys of Just Twirl present their hopping party, Twirl with Pride.

One reply on “Preview: Pride Charlotte events”

  1. Where is the other media coverage on Pride? I checked area calendars for the Observer, Creative Loafing and other charlotte calendars and there was no mention of Pride. What’s the big secret this year?
