Our Jan. 23 print edition hits the web this week and newsstands Friday and Saturday, and we’re busy planning and writing away for our Feb. 6 print edition — our second annual Sex Issue.
Last year, qnotes took a leap and tried something we’d never experimented with before. We published our first-ever Sex Issue in May. The cover story featured three young, gay men in a polyamorous relationship navigating how to incorporate a possible fourth person. The piece was controversial, but it also prompted a lot of good debate and discussion along with shedding light on a relationship/familial structure that often goes ignored, unsupported and unrecognized.
We thought our first Sex Issue was a success, and as we planned editorial coverage for 2010 decided to go ahead with a second annual Sex Issue, with some changes. We’ve moved the Sex Issue to coincide with Valentine’s Day and this year’s theme, “Love and Lust,” will allow us to focus, as we did last year, on both relationships and sexuality. Valentine’s just seemed like a great and appropriate tie-in.
We’re already working on great stories and features. In fact, I just finished up a phenomenal interview. But, we’re looking for folks out in the community to help us out with some leads.
In particular, we’re searching for…
- Couples who met through online dating and hook-up sites like Craigslist, Manhunt, A4A, etc.
- Couples who have “open relationships” and those who are exclusively monogamous.
- LGBT folks who have starred in pornographic films, especially films produced and filmed in N.C./S.C.
If you fit any of these descriptions, be sure to get in touch with us. You can email us at editor@goqnotes-launch2.newspackstaging.com. Anonymity can be respected, although we’d love on-the-record interviews. Try to get in touch no later than this Friday, Jan. 22.
