Ian Palmquist, executive director of Equality North Carolina and board chair of the Equality Federation, is among 10 individuals selected as Bohnett Leadership Fellows by the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute this year.
The Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute is extremely proud of its collaboration with the David Bohnett Foundation to send outstanding LGBT leaders to the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. Designed primarily for senior-level executives from state, county and local governments, and their elected counterparts, the summer program hones skills and builds the leadership potential of already-accomplished LGBT individuals from across the country.
Each session’s members are selected to reflect a broad spectrum of functional responsibilities and levels of government, as well as geographical diversity. With the support of the Bohnett Foundation, the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute provides partial scholarships to those LGBT individuals who have been accepted by the Harvard Kennedy School. It is the expectation of GLLI that every accepted applicant will anticipate some expense in paying for the program.
Other 2010 fellows include:Â Ms. Kim Iwamoto, Hawaii; Senator Nicole LeFavor, Idaho; Mr. Barry Pack, Oregon; Mr. John Szabo, Georgia; Councilmember Patrick Wojahn, Maryland; Councilmember Joel Burns, Texas; Ms. Roberta Conroy, California; Representative Frank Ferri, Rhode Island; and Judge Jonathon Lack, Alaska.
