Hello, everyone, and thank goodness it’s Friday! My name is Taylor, and I am here with this week’s QWeekly — Qnotes’ newsletter highlighting the past week’s headlines.

This week, I want to talk about my alma mater: UNC-Chapel Hill. And no, this isn’t about March Madness (I’m still bitter over the loss to Alabama). While UNC is known for it’s iconic athletics programs and rigorous academics, those close to the university would say the school is just as known for various scandals. Now, it’s possible another one may be unfolding.

Students and faculty have been pushing to rename a building on campus — Hamilton Hall — after its namesake was revealed to have supported Jim Crow laws and was openly a white supremacist. The new name: Pauli Murray Hall, meant to recognize the gender-nonconforming North Carolina Civil Rights activist. However, the school’s Board of Trustees are stalling the process to rename the building.
