Organizers say close to 1,000 have turned out tonight for the Unity Through Community LGBT welcome event for the DNC. A locally-organized effort, dozens of community leaders pulled together to present the event. Word on the street is openly lesbian Houston Mayor Annise Parker is in the house; Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx just welcomed attendees to the city. Kristine W on stage now.
