Summer is officially underway across the Carolinas, and June is packed with opportunities to connect, celebrate and explore. From Juneteenth festivals and community wellness events to drag performances, concerts, storytelling nights and outdoor gatherings, organizations across the region are launching a season filled with art, culture and community.

Here are some of the events kicking off summer across North Carolina and South Carolina.
Happening All Summer
Summer arts and cultural programming continues throughout the season. ArtWalks CLT offers self-guided public art trails across Charlotte, while the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Harvey B. Gantt Center and Mint Museum all feature major exhibitions. Camp North End’s Crossroads Cinema series returns with outdoor movie screenings, Independent Picture House revisits classic films through its “Summer of ’86” series, and the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops concerts return to Symphony Park.
