For the entertainment portion of its event, Pride Charlotte brings in performers with regional, national and international exposure. One of the returning performers who has enjoyed the broadest success is award-winning gay singer/songwriter Josh Zuckerman.

Through extensive touring in the U.S. and Europe, Zuckerman’s work has reached a wide-ranging audience. In fact, his second album, 2006’s “Out from Under,” peaked at #1 on the national album chart in the U.K.

In addition, the singles from the collection, “Out from Under” and “Be Real,” garnered heavy airplay, with the title track spending several weeks in the top spot on Sirius radio’s singles chart. The music video for “Out from Under” ranked as LOGO’s fourth most popular clip of 2006.

Zuckerman grew up in St. Louis, a city with a vibrant music scene, surrounded by musicians representing a wide range of styles. He became interested in music and songwriting at an early age.

Initially trained on the violin, he gradually developed an interest in rock — particularly influenced by the East Coast sound. He moved to New Jersey to immerse himself and his compositions in the local flavors. Today, his lyrics often center around the challenges he has experienced and his quest for spiritual growth.

In 1996, Zuckerman was one of the featured artists who performed for the 40,000-capacity audience at the Atlanta Olympics. He has shared the stage with such notables as the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Macy Gray, Joan Jett and B.B. King. His music is also regularly featured on the television series “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.”
