Idit_Klein-200x277ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The executive director of a national organization working for full LGBT equality in Jewish life will speak in Asheville for two events on June 27 and 28.

Idit Klein, pictured right, executive director of Keshet, will speak on “Risk and Responsibility: A Professional Gay Jew’s Take on Activism and Leadership” in a joint program presented by the Asheville Jewish Community Center’s Gay and Lesbian+ of Western North Carolina (GLOW), Congregation Beth HaTephila and Congregation Beth Israel.

Klein will speak on June 27, 7:30 p.m., at services for Congregation Beth HeTephila, 43 N. Liberty St. On June 28, 12:30 p.m., she will speak at Congregation Beth Israel, 229 Murdock Ave.

Klein’s presentation includes her journey from secular Israel to an Orthodox day school and, finally, her step into the LGBT rights movement.
