Oh, kiddies — pageant season is upon us and I’m as excited as a kid at Disneyland! It is with much regret that I’ll not be able to attend the Continental contests over Easter weekend. They promise to be spectacular. I’m actually headed in the opposite direction to Miami to visit friends, but I will, of course, see excellent drag while down there. I’m hoping to hear good things about how Kofi, Coco Van Cartier and Amelia Black do at PLUS and how Jodie Santana does at Miss Elite. One other contestant who is going would be Miss FL Elite, Tiffany McCray, who has been a fixture on the scene for many years. She has toured through NC previously.
Miss Gay America Victoria DePaula has had her first prelim, Miss Mid-America, and “Pageant” star and former top five finalist Chantel Reshae won. Her runners-up included Madison Lachay and Sasha Leigh Chambers.
On the U.S.ofA. scene, so many pageants have taken place, like Miss FL Classic, which former Miss NC America Sharde Ross won with RUs Christiana Sinclair and Bridgette Galore; Miss Arkansas Classic Alexis LaRue and RU Raven St. James; Miss GA Classic Penny Holiday with RUs Jewel Holiday and Reva Iman Black; Miss Missouri Classic Blanche DuBois; and Miss Reina del Sol Nicole DuBois (former Miss America). For the At-Large girls, we have a new Miss GA, Tahjee Iman with RUs Allyssa Williams and Alexandria Martin and Miss Super Nova Jericha Knight. For the “original,” we have Miss Southeast Celeste Starr and RU Tyra Couture, Miss GA Stasha Sanchez with RU Coti Collins and Miss TN Sassi Stevenz and RU Sasha Andrews.Others include Miss IL, Montana Michaels; Mississippi, Summer Knight; Missouri, Cyren Paris; Southern States, Danielle DeLong; and Wisconsin, Mia Dumar.
Locally, we’ve had the bar pageant Great American Mining Company in Greenville which Scarlett Dailey won with RU Tia Chanella and Miss Shamrock in Asheville which Amanda Blake won with RUs Cheetah Shaw and Jewel Holliday tying for first and Briana Love. Our Miss NC U.S.ofA. Brooke Divine has just relinquished her title of Miss Zodiac at Night Owls in Gastonia. She ended up crowning the lady who crowned her Miss NC — Cierra Nichole. Cierras RU was Greenville, SC’s Aqua St. Mark.
