Reading is one of the most powerful ways to model inclusion and nurture empathy. Welcoming Schools created the Book of the Month series to foster compassionate dialogue and elevate joyful stories of authentic LGBTQ+ lives, building monthly engagement and momentum leading up to our National Day of Reading each February.
For the month of June, we’re reading ‘My Little Golden Book About Pride’ by Kyle Lukoff. This nonfiction Little Golden Book celebrates Pride and encourages everyone to be proud of who they are. The book features LGBTQIA history and the meaning behind each color of the original Pride flag created by Gilbert Baker. With beautiful illustrations, this Little Golden Book highlights the diversity and inclusiveness of the LGBTQIA community.
