August is busy with events for LGBTQ+ communities across the Carolinas. Charlotte Pride returns with its annual festival and parade, while organizations throughout North and South Carolina continue celebrating the season with theater, concerts, drag performances, community fundraisers, networking events, sporting events and opportunities to give back.

Whether you’re looking for a Pride celebration, a community fundraiser, live entertainment or an opportunity to connect, here are some of the highlights happening across the Carolinas this month.

Happening All Summer

Summer arts and cultural programming continues throughout August across the Carolinas. Blumenthal Arts continues Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors through Aug. 9, bringing a fast-paced, gender-bending comedy inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic vampire tale to Charlotte audiences. In Flat Rock, Flat Rock Playhouse celebrates the 30th anniversary of RENT through Aug. 15 with a new production of Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about love, resilience and chosen family.

Recurring throughout August

Recurring events throughout the month include weekly karaoke nights at Chasers and Bar Argon, Southern Country Charlotte dance nights and Gaming Lounge Charlotte community gaming events. The Hideaway in Rock Hill also continues its Sashay Saturdays drag showcases throughout the month, featuring rotating casts of performers and DJs.

Legacy Drag Lunch

Legacy Caribbean Bar & Grill hosts its monthly drag lunch featuring Dorae Saunders, Paris Lefaris and special guests CJ Grant and Alexia Bonet.

Let’s Be Social

Charlotte Black Pride hosts Let’s Be Social at Divine Barrel Brewing, bringing the community together for an afternoon of conversation, music and connection with DJs Jarzu and Kapri Su.

Queer Game Night

The Harriet Hancock Center hosts Queer Game Night in Columbia, bringing LGBTQ+ adults together for an evening of board games, card games and community.

Sapphic Storytelling: Stories from Allies

Lesbian Friends of Charlotte hosts Sapphic Storytelling: Stories from Allies, an evening of personal stories, poetry, music and community celebrating the allies who have supported and uplifted LGBTQ+ people.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Vanna Vanity hosts a fairy tale-inspired dance party at Bar Argon featuring performances by Phina 5000, Leonasia Chanel and Vicki Vanity, with music by DJ Diesel and drag entertainment throughout the night.

Lenny Boy Brewing Co. hosts Drag for a Cause, a fundraiser featuring Charlotte drag entertainers and benefiting the Carolina Migrant Network.

What’s Good

Snug Harbor’s What’s Good returns with a special Pride Month edition featuring guest DJs, an aerial performance and a fundraiser benefiting Time Out Youth.

Carolina Vogue Nights: Back to School Drive Box

Club Love hosts a Back to School Drive Box, collecting school supplies for K-8 students through The Drop.

Pride Is a Protest: Then & Now

The Levine Museum of the New South explores the history of Pride as protest and its continued relevance through an evening of conversation and reflection.

Queen City Lip Sync

The second annual Queen City Lip Sync brings American Airlines flight attendants to the Stage Door Theater for a night of drag performances benefiting the Wings Foundation.

Rollin’ With Pride

The LGBT Center of Raleigh hosts Rollin’ With Pride, a family-friendly roller skating fundraiser supporting the center’s programs and services.

Dishing with the Divas: Vanna’s Tupperware Party Birthday Edition

Vanna Vanity celebrates another trip around the sun with an interactive drag show blending camp, games and plenty of nostalgic fun.

RENT

The Lotus Project presents RENT, the Tony Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical set during the HIV/AIDS crisis. Carolina RAIN will host a post-show talkback following the Aug. 8 matinee and offer HIV testing on site.

Menagerie: An Audiovisual Drag Experience

Petra’s celebrates the one-year anniversary of Menagerie with an immersive drag show hosted by Fellini featuring music, visuals and high-energy performances.

Pride Kickoff Karaoke Night

Starlight on 22nd kicks off Charlotte Pride with a special karaoke night, inviting guests to sing their favorite anthems, celebrate with friends and enjoy an evening of music and community.

Fierce Friday: Birthday Bash

Bar Argon celebrates Vanna Vanity’s birthday with Fierce Friday, featuring performances by Vicki, Lolita Chanel, Leonasia and Franny Starlight, plus special appearances and two drag shows throughout the night.

Pink Pony Pre-Pride

Scorpio Pride kicks off the celebration with Pink Pony Pre-Pride, featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 alum Carmen Carrera, performances by Erica Chanel, Lilli Frost and Lulu Cavalli, plus music across four dance floors.

North Star Drag Brunch

North Star LGBTQ+ Community Center hosts a drag brunch featuring performances, coffee, donuts and community.

Charlotte Pride Interfaith Service

Faith leaders and community members gather for Charlotte Pride’s annual Interfaith Service celebrating inclusion, reflection and community.

CLT Pride Kick-Off Party

Fonta Flora Brewery and Crown Kings of Charlotte kick off Charlotte Pride Week with an all-ages drag show featuring Will Charmer, King Kid Charlemagne, AquaPOURin, Crystal Violet Van Dank and King of Drag alum Tuna Melt.

August 11

CLACK the Vote Candidate Fair

The Carolinas LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce hosts its nonpartisan candidate fair, giving voters an opportunity to meet candidates and learn more about local races ahead of Election Day.

Blumenthal Arts brings “& Juliet” to the Belk Theater, reimagining Shakespeare’s classic heroine with a fresh story and a soundtrack of hit pop songs. Performances run through Aug. 16.

August 12

Freedom in Full Color

Scorpio Pride kicks off Pride weekend with Freedom in Full Color, a rooftop dance party inspired by Kesha’s Freedom Tour, featuring music by DJ MacRay, hosting by Erica Chanel and drink specials throughout the night.

Charlotte Pride Drag Pageant

Charlotte Pride’s annual Drag Pageant crowns the next Mx., Miss and Mr. Charlotte Pride during an evening celebrating the artistry of drag.

Raise Your Voices: Pride Karaoke Night

Bar Argon kicks off Charlotte Pride weekend with Raise Your Voices, an all-ages karaoke night where guests can belt out their favorite Pride anthems with no cover charge.

Midnight Mass

Scorpio Pride’s signature late-night dance party returns with a special set by RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shea Couleé, plus DJs JRB and MacRay, hip-hop, house and disco music, and an all-night Pride celebration hosted by Erica Chanel.

Game On!

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte celebrates the music of video games with Game On!, a two-night concert featuring live performances of themes from Halo, Pokémon, Final Fantasy, Skyrim and more, presented in partnership with Charlotte Pride.

Bob the Drag Queen

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 winner and comedian Bob the Drag Queen brings a weekend of stand-up comedy to The Comedy Zone, featuring new material from the Emmy-nominated performer, actor and co-host of HBO’s We’re Here.

August 14

Aquaria After Dark

Scorpio Pride welcomes RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 winner Aquaria for a live 360-degree DJ set, with performances by Erica Chanel, Honey Z and Lulu Cuvali, plus music across three dance floors featuring hip-hop, R&B, Latin, reggaeton and throwback hits.

Fierce Friday: Pride Edition

Bar Argon’s Fierce Friday: Pride Edition features performances by Meatball and Drag Race Down Under vs. The World contestant Nicole Paige Brooks, plus a hot buns contest, celebrity judges and an all-star cast of local drag entertainers.

BRAVE presents QueerCity_704, a late-night queer dance party at Sip City featuring house and techno from Jungle Gym Jones, DJ Lady Bear and DJ Malcriado, with drag by Phina5000.

August 15

Charlotte Pride Festival

Charlotte Pride’s two-day festival begins in Uptown Charlotte with live entertainment, exhibitors, vendors, food, community organizations and thousands of attendees celebrating LGBTQ+ pride and community.

2026 Pride Mimosa Kickoff Party

Twirl to the World and the Hydration Station Foundation kick off Charlotte Pride with a mimosa-filled celebration at Victoria Yards featuring DJ Little Betty, community connections and fundraising for the Twirl Assistance Program (TAP).

Pride Fest Drag Brunch with Nicole Paige Brooks

Pride at the Pitch

RIOT! A Punk CLT Pride Afterparty

Pride 2.0

Crown Kings of Charlotte and Room Service present Pride 2.0, a free drag king showcase featuring performers from across the Carolinas, alongside cocktails, food and Charlotte Pride celebrations.
