Charlotte’s LGBT choruses are partnering with Circle Up to present “Sing for the Cure,” a concert of some 80 choristers benefitting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Charlotte affiliate.

The concert, jointly presented by One Voice Chorus and Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte, is slated for Sept. 25, 8 p.m., at Central Piedmont Community College’s Halton Theater.

The concert, now in its 10th year, is described as a “musical journey from the moment of diagnosis and all the experiences that follow,” reads One Voice Chorus’ website. The concert’s music is based on the poetry of Pamela Martin, who interviewed breast cancer patients, family and friends to compose her lyrics. Ten composers translated the poetry into song “lending the overall work the richness of a story well-told and stated in musical styles that are fresh and varied.”
