Prepare to strut your stuff and walk down the runway this fall when Charlotte Trans Health hosts its annual “Trans Health is for Everyone” (T.H.E.) fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Diamonds Direct Luxury Lounge at Truist Field.
The theme for this year is “T.H.E. Night Hits the Runway,” promising an evening filled with vibrant drag performances, an open bar, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Attendees can also look forward to dancing and a night of celebration and solidarity with the transgender community.
The fundraising goal is $75,000, which would be used to pay for gender-affirming treatments for the Charlotte Trans Health patient network. Hormone therapies, gender-affirming procedures and other treatments are under attack in North Carolina, as the General Assembly voted to instate a ban on providers’ ability to offer essential healthcare to trans people under 18. The bill, also known as House Bill 808, punishes doctors who continue to provide such gender-affirming care by revoking the individual’s license. In addition, state funds for North Carolina Medicaid participants can’t be used to pay for gender-affirming medical care to minors.
The Charlotte Trans Health Group focuses on providing accessible, compassionate and affirming healthcare services to the transgender community by working to bridge gaps in healthcare access and quality, advocating for better resources, support and education for both patients and healthcare providers.
Through events like T.H.E. Night, the Charlotte Trans Health Group raises funds and awareness to support its mission of equitable healthcare for everyone, regardless of gender identity.
This event is more than just a fundraiser — it serves as a vital platform to highlight the importance of accessible, compassionate healthcare for transgender individuals. By bringing together community members, healthcare providers and allies, T.H.E. 2024 aims to encourage a supportive environment, underscoring the significance of gender-affirming care. The event underscores the collaboration and unity required to ensure that all individuals have access to the healthcare they need, regardless of their gender identity.
