GREENSBORO — Jay Ovittore, a Democratic challenger for veteran U.S. Rep. Howard Coble’s 6th District seat, has received the endorsement of the Replacements, Ltd. Political Action Committee.

Headed up by Replacements, Ltd. owners Bob Page and Dale Frederiksen, an openly gay couple who support a wide array of LGBT advocacy causes, the PAC is known for its strict endorsement criteria in the Triad area of North Carolina.

The endorsement is just one of many signs confirming Ovittore’s LGBT-inclusive policy positions.

“I am proud to be endorsed by The Replacements Ltd PAC. My stances on issues that are important to the PAC are obviously aligned, and I look forward to representing those views in Washington,” Ovittore said in a press release.

Ovittore faces two challengers in the May 6 Democratic Primary, Teresa Sue Bratton and Johnny Carter.

The 34-year-old first-time candidate has gone on record in debates with his contenders saying he would repeal the entire Defense of Marriage Act and advocate for a law forcing states to recognize equally all marriages performed by other states.
