Staging April 19-27 is an opportunity for audiences to step into a story of epic proportions of the Greek tale penned by Homer with “The Odyssey Experience.” After presentations across the Southeast, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s Resident Touring Company returns home, bringing with them a version of the classic story with audiences playing a starring role.

Directed by Chris Parks, four dynamic actors, Jamaas Britton, Kayla Ferguson, Anna Goldstein, and Rollins Mosley, guide the audience through Odysseus’s daring journey during the time of the Trojan War, from his city of Ithica to lands depicted in Greek Mythology. Along the way, guests will have the chance to become royals, merfolk, and even Poseidon, the mighty god of the sea. This immersive production promises a fresh, fun way to experience one of literature’s greatest adventures.

Continuing all through the month of April, “Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat” leaps off the page and onto the stage in a zany, comedic , which was first produced by The National Theatre of Great Britain. Directed by Adam Burke, this lively play bursts with cartoon surrealism thanks to punchy costume designs by Katy Sigmon, stark comic scenic designs by Andrew Gibbon, surreal lighting by David Fillmore, Jr., and a soundscape of playful effects created by Sound Designer Jason Romney.

Retelling the story of the original Cat In The Hat book, from the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun. He turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure, but as the playtime spins out of control, the kids start to worry about what their mom will find when she gets home. The talented cast of seven, including Caleb Sigmon as the mischievous Cat, brings Dr. Seuss’s classic characters to life with the help of two rotating youth casts as Thing 1 and Thing 2, with Gold Cast members Luke Tsurumaki and Mackenzie Graham, and Purple Cast members Nicholas Underwood and Grace Bender. With the added magic of circus arts, illusions and a playful nod to Saturday morning cartoons, this production is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages, reminding attendees of the magic of Dr. Seuss’s playful books. “Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat” also runs through April 27, 2025.
