CHARLOTTE — The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte has expanded their hours of operation, after announcing plans to do so earlier this month. The Center will include longer hours on Saturday and will now be open on Monday.
The Center, located in the N.C. Music Factory at 820 Hamilton St., Suite B11, is now open Monday-Thursday, 5-8 p.m.; Friday: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The facility is closed on Sunday.
“We are delighted to announce our extended hours, as we take another step toward becoming a full-time Community Center again,” Center Board Chair John Stotler said in a release. “Our current board of directors has worked very hard to improve every facet of our Community Center’s operation, and we are on track to expand programs, improve fund-raising and employ a full-time executive director in the near future. We are also poised to launch a new website.”
The Center has not been open every week day since it moved in 2008 from it’s original location on Central Ave. in Plaza Midwood.
The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte, founded in 2001, provides space and opportunity to nurture, celebrate, and empower the Charlotte region’s diverse LGBT community through programs, events, and collaboration. Among the Center’s signature projects are the annual Pride Charlotte festival, the annual GayCharlotte Film Series, monthly community roundtable events, health screenings and art exhibits.
