CBGP sets Expo date

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Black Gay Pride committee has announced that it is taking applications for its annual annual Expo on July 17.

The day-long event will begin with workshops, followed by a festival and celebration.

Non-profit organization vendors are $65 for information distribution for all events or $50 for the Expo only. If one has a booth where sales are offered, the price is $140, with $100 for the Expo only designation. Profit businesses and organizations who only distribute information are $90 ($75 Expo). Sales booths are $165 ($125 Expo).

Charity to benefit

CHARLOTTE — Local author Frances Richter will contribute a portion of her proceeds from book sales to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund during the Charlotte Business Guild 2010 Business Expo on Mar. 20, 12-4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 201 S. McDowell St.

Admission is free.

A $10 donation (cash or check) enables contributors to receive a free, autographed copy of “Friend of the Firm.” A full purchase price will qualify one to receive one free autographed copy of “Friend of the Firm,” plus a voucher for a free copy of “Love Valley,” upon its publication.

“Friend of the Firm” has been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize.

CHARLOTTE — Equality NC (ENC) will team with the Charlotte Business Guild in offering an opportunity to gather and socialize with supporters before the board begins its annual planning retreat.

Join them on Mar. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Blue Restaurant and Bar.

Celebrate the progress together, mingle with other supporters of equal rights and welcome ENC’s statewide board and staff.

Blue is located at the corner of 5th Street and College Street in Uptown Charlotte’s Hearst Tower. There will be a cash bar. RSVP and friends are welcome, but not required.
