CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Campus Pride, in cooperation with PaperClip Communications, will host a webinar for campus students and staff on Nov. 12, 2 p.m., in advance of the Transgender Day of Remembrance which occurs on Nov. 20.
The event, “Strategies for Serving & Supporting Transgender & Gender-Nonconforming Students,” will provide information on how to best create a safe and acceptable environment in which to thrive.
Panelists include Campus Pride founder Shane L. Windmeyer, M.S., Ed., and Genny Beemyn, director of the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Stonewall Center.

In other news, Windmeyer has announced that “The Blessing of Growth: Sitting Down at the Table with Chick-fil-A” is now available for booking at campuses who are committed to creating a safe space for open, welcoming dialogue between campus community members.
Dialogue is centered around the experience that Windmeyer had when he engaged with Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy. Previously, Windmeyer has boycotted the restaurant chain due to its anti-LGBT stance, but after the conversations he had with Cathy, he suspended it. The two learned about leadership, respect and civility as a byproduct of the encounters and became friends.
Format for the presentation is through either roundtable discussion or lecture.
