Today marks the start of Asexual Awareness Week. The above documentary, “A Sexual Story” looks into what asexuality is, and what it isn’t, and asks whether a highly sexualized culture such as ours can ever truly understand and accept asexuality.

Asexuality is defined as the lack of sexual attraction to anyone, or low or absent interest in sexual activity.

From the film:

The lack of understanding and information surrounding asexuality has led many to question whether it is a lifestyle choice, a phase, or something you are born with. This confusion ranges from the general public to professionals, as many are still learning about it.

For even more information, check out this video by ThinkTank on what it’s like to be asexuals, from asexuals themselves.

Were you already aware of asexuality, or are you just now learning about it? Perhaps you are asexual yourself, or know someone who is? Let us know in the comments below.
