The Lesbian & Gay Community Center of Charlotte will host its monthly Community Roundtable discussion on May 19. This month, they tackle addiction.
Entitled “The LGBT Community and Addiction,” the Roundtable will focus on all types of addictions faced by members of our LGBT Community including alcohol, substance abuse, and other behavioral addictions. Anonymity will be respected in this welcoming environment where everyone is invited to join including people who have conquered their addictions and partners of people with addictions.
“Many people in the LGBT community don’t feel welcome or comfortable discussing their personal lives in more traditional support groups that deal with these issues,” explains Center Administrator Fred Brazzell. The Center hopes that this Roundtable may spin-off into a separate, regularly scheduled program which will provide not only support but information on LGBT-safe and friendly resources.
The Roundtable starts at 7 p.m. at the Lesbian & Gay Community Center of Charlotte: 820 Hamilton St., Suite B-11.

These roundtables are a good idea but why not have one to discuss the future of the center…or the lack thereof. And what the Center plans to do about the current leadership that is running it and Pride Charlotte into the ground.
