Have a gay ol’ time this weekend at UNCSA in Winston-Salem.
On Thursday, check out Tim Miller’s performance of “Lay of the Land.” From the press release:
Internationally acclaimed performance artist and author Tim Miller will perform “Lay of the Land,” his saucy, sharp-knifed look at the state of the Union during a time of trial, at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, in Agnes de Mille Theatre on the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) campus. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students, and are available through the UNCSA Box Office, 336-721-1945. This performance, which is expected to last approximately 70 minutes, contains adult themes. Miller’s creative work as a performer and writer explores the artistic, spiritual and political topography of his identity as a gay man.

He describes the newest of his solo performances: “Careening from his sexy misadventures performing in 45 states, to marriage equality street protests, to the electoral assaults on gay folks all over the country … ‘Lay of the Land’ friskily gets at that feeling of gay folks being perpetually on trial, on the ballot, and on the menu! Miller will be a guest artist at UNCSA from April 4-11. The Undergraduate Academic Program of UNCSA is sponsoring his visit. During his residency, Miller will work with students to prepare a workshop presentation.
And… On Saturday, head back to the UNCSA campus for a OUT at the Movies screening of “Prodigal Sons,” an award-winning documentary following the path of trangender filmmaker Kimberly Reed as she takes a trek back to her hometown in Minnesota.
