Tuck Fest is returning to the Whitewater Center Saturday, April 25-27.Named from the

Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail, a historical trading route that passes through the Whitewater Center property, Tuck Fest is a three-day festival laced with music, activities and exhibitions that celebrate the outdoor lifestyle and has occurred almost every year for over a decade. Bringing nearly 40,000 people to the area around the same time, Tuck Fest includes multiple activities that take place across the Whitewater Center’s 1,300-acre facility.

Aside from the activities taking place all around the center, one of the best details about the festival is that it is free to attend, aside for the parking fees, which will be $12 over the weekend, and the competitions happening Friday through Sunday. Coming to check out the music has zero costs associated, giving potential attendees a chance to experience parts of the three-day event while not being hit too hard in the wallet.

Along with the music exhibitions, there will be special events open for attendees of all ages to enjoy. Many of the selections are aimed at bringing visitors to the Whitewater Center closer to nature, whether learning about owls, discovering different animal habitats and the animal tracks one might find in each area, and getting to spend time with the forest itself while learning about trees and other plant life. Tuck Fest will also be offering yoga sessions, all with varying difficulty levels, free throughout the weekend.

The competitions open to the public at the center range from 5 to 10k night races and timed hikes, and also include rock-climbing, motorbike, and water races. All of the races vary in two forms of cost, where adults and youth under 10 years can sign up at $45 and $35 when pre-registering, while the day of each competition brings the prices up to $50 and $40. There will also be three contests that are invite only, consisting of the “Dirty Crit” bike race, the “Deep Water Solo” climb, and the “Boatercross” kayak race, each with audience viewing spots.

The Whitewater Center’s Tuck Fest will kick off Friday, April 25, and continue through Sunday, April 27.
