Family study seeks parents
ELON, N.C. — Alexis Franzese, assistant professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Elon University, is conducting a research study involving parental decisions to cease producing children and building families.
Participants are required to have at least one biological or adopted child and consider their family complete.
The study is open to individuals, regardless of marital status or sexual orientation.
Interviews will take approximately 60-90 minutes and will take place at a convenient location.
In lieu of payment, participants will receive a $30 gift card to Target or Walmart.
Project approval comes from the university’s Institutional Review Board.

Trans study in progress
MUNCIE, Ind. — Researcher Mary McGinnis and her advisor Dr. Jennifer Grouling at Ball State University are conducting a study on the sexual identity of trans peoples’ partners. The are asking for romantic or former romantic partners of a transgender person to participate.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the sexual identity of partners of gender-conforming trans people and explore how the partners of trans people deal with sexual identity incongruity and negotiate self-representation
as a result of the relationship.
Participants complete a 15-minute survey about one’s experiences in the relationship. Selected volunteers could be asked to participate in a 90-minute interview at a mutually agreed upon location.
All information and volunteers remain confidential. It is being conducted through the Department of English.

Job search study perspectives sought
CHICAGO, Ill. — Dan Abben, a graduate student in Psychology at DePaul University, is conducting a survey that explores the effectiveness of web-based recruitment strategies. He is examining LGBT people’s perceptions of job ads. Participants are asked to imagine that they are applying for a job, read a job ad and complete a series of questions.
The study is open to the LGBT community who are 18-years-old and over.

The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.
