RALEIGH — Equality NC (ENC) recently sent out a suggestion for folks in the state to hold a Simple Summer Advocacy: Movie Night in the comfort of their own homes in conjunction with the North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
Kick back and enjoy the flick, eat some popcorn or other snacks and then, at the end of the presentation, spend some time talking about the issues or themes represented in what was viewed. Got a sheet and a projector? Then, how about an outdoor screening? Better yet, invite neighbors or anyone else who could benefit from an informative and entertaining evening.
They recommended finding films on LGBT life such as “Brokeback Mountain,” “Get Real,””A Single Man,” “Transamerica,” “Out in the Silence,” “For the Bible Tells Me So,” “Outrage,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and more.
