After a day of celebration for Solutions Journalism Day, we are offering this special version of our Local News Team member newsletter.
For more than 37 years, Qnotes has been serving the Carolina’s LGBTQ+ residents. Over the past few years, we’ve also fully embraced a solutions-focused reporting lens that has helped us bring a new dimension of connection and engagement to our community — from presenting more complex stories to connecting people with potentially life-changing resources.
That includes stories like L’Monique King’s feature on Charlotte’s Poor No More, that has assisted in giving out food packages to those in need.
“We have an opportunity through solutions journalism to lift people up in times when solutions seem few and far between …. The journalism component allows us to share that, so the Black trans woman as a result of reading Qnotes … she now knows she has a safe, affirming resource,” says King.
