The OUTlook, a weekly newsletter about LGBTQ+ business, labor and workplace equality from Qnotes.

Good afternoon, everyone, and Happy Tuesday. Welcome to this week’s OUTlook — I’m Taylor, and I’ll be bringing you some of the business-related headlines we’ve covered recently.

Queer-owned businesses play a crucial role in local economies, but it’s been shown some of these businesses of the past have been lost in history. A local archiving effort, however, is looking to document the queer history of Charlotte, including among its business communities.

The King Henry Brockington LGBTQ+ Archive — a community project designed to collect, preserve, and protect the LGBTQ+ community history of Charlotte — covers primarily the 1970s-present, with personal papers, oral histories, organizational records, ephemera and the full archive of Qnotes.

You can learn more about it and what resides in its collections below.
