OUTlook is a Weekly Newsletter about LGBTQ+ business, labor, workplace equality and all things related from Qnotes.

In this latest edition of OUTlook we take a look at how the unexpected can impact a LGBTQ+ business, like the Woodshed. A contracted security person reportedly assaulted a patron, leaving them hospitalized with severe stab wounds. Although, as of last report, they are recovering, the assault suspect remains jailed, and little is known about their purported motivation.

In a positive development, HRC North Carolina recently welcomed an estimated 300 individuals to their annual fundraising dinner held at Le Meridien in Charlotte.

Following the purported “massive loss” by the Democratic party during the last election, some members are reflecting on what could have been handled differently. While many still aren’t convinced the loss was legitimate, others do. Newly-elected DNC chairperson Ken Martin and his supporters hope a new face on the progressive party will change the tide for future political action.
