The news cycle this week has been brutal — between Kevin McCarthy’s ousting as Speaker of the House and former President Donald Trump’s civil trial over his finances, it’s been a hectic time to be in America.
A classical music station out of Raleigh — 89.7 WCPE — has also found itself in the national spotlight after its management decided it wouldn’t air six operas from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It’s director cited “non-biblical” depictions and “inappropriate content,” as the reasons for not airing the staged productions. However, this isn’t the first time WCPE opted to not air content from the Met.
