MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A fire that ripped through Time Out, a Myrtle Beach gay bar, early Thursday morning resulted in the shutdown of two roads and significant damage to the bar, a longtime fixture in the local community.
Time Out, located at the intersection of Oak St. and 8th Ave. N., has been operating for 23 years. They bill themselves as the oldest gay-owned bar in the city. [Ed. Note — Time Out is a longtime advertiser in this newspaper.]
According to WMBF News reporter Alex Holley, firefighters arrived on the scene at about 3:30 a.m. They shut down both Oak St. and 8th Ave. N. Flames reached as high as 30 feet. Most of the fire was contained to the second floor, WMBF News reported. Firefighters also said a portion of the building’s roof collapsed.
