The Charlotte Roller Derby (CLTRD) will run their final home bout of the season at Charlotte’s Grady Cole Center this Thursday, October 24.

For this bout, CLTRD will be splitting itself down the middle for a match pitting the “Sinners” versus the “Saints” within the team. For this exhibition match-up, CLTRD is invites everyone to attend, from dedicated fans to interested parties.

As proclaimed on their Facebook event page: “Whether you’re a seasoned derby fan or new to the sport, this is the perfect event to experience the excitement and energy of roller derby. Grab your friends, dress in your team colors and come cheer on your favorite skaters!”

Founded back in 2006 as the Charlotte Roller Girls, the team rebranded and reformed as the Charlotte Roller Derby in 2018 to better reflect the inclusive values of the organization. CLTRD has been a fully-sanctioned member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), the international governing body for the sport of women’s flat-track roller derby since 2011, and had gained their 501©(3) Charitable Organization status back in 2017.

CLTRD will also be using the hometown close-out bout to fundraise for Flo Charlotte. Flo Charlotte is a Charlotte-based organization that works to provide hygiene supplies to both adults and teens that have little or no access to them. The organization gives their primary focus to families experiencing homelessness, but also works to support schools, safe havens for LGBTQ+ teens and young adults, and those at domestic abuse shelters.

How patrons of Thursday’s bout can be supportive of Flo Charlotte, and enter into a raffle for CLTRD 2025 Season Passes, is by bringing a pack of pads or tampons to donate. Attendees can also donate $5 to Flo in order to enter the raffle. 100 percent of the monetary donations will go to the organization after the bout that night.

Doors to CLTRD’s “Sinners Vs Saints” home game will open at 6 p.m., with 7 p.m. starting up the battle. Each section will be thirty minutes, with Halftime at 7:30 p.m. There will be an After-Party at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille at 8:30 p.m. that evening.
