Lady Bunny brings it for pride
CHARLESTON, S.C. — “Into the Woods, A Fairy Tale Event,” will be held on April 4, 7 p.m., at the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, 122 E. Bay St.
This Charleston Pride event features Lady Bunny who will entertain during the festivities.
An open bar, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, entertainment and music by DJ Trevor D will provide event-goers with an evening of “adventure and enchantment,” organizers said.
Co-emcees will be Jaisee Alexander and Symone N. O’Bishop.
Organizers added, “While marriage equality has cast a spell over the Kingdom of Charleston and the State of South Carolina, there is still much more to do with the work of ensuring that all LGBT citizens are granted full equality without the threat of their rights being taken away. With the help of your financial support, we can continue making progressive strides towards equality so that everyone’s wish of happily ever after can truly be achieved.”

Black Pride org explores issues
COLUMBIA, S.C. — “Facts vs. Fiction: Homosexuality and the Bible” will be held on March 21, 9 a.m., at Kingdom Outreach Fellowship, 2212-D Platt Springs Rd.
Presenter is Tiffany Adams, senior pastor.
Topics to be addressed include: how misinterpretation caused one to miss the real message; what the word “abomination” really means; that homosexual was never used in any version of the Bible until 1946; sodomy appears nowhere in the original Hebrew or Greek Testaments, and that a true Sodomite is simply a citizen of Sodom.
Cost is $20 which includes a 30-page handbook and DVD. Only 15 spaces are being designated as admission only (free) to allow for those who have previously attended.

On March 27, 6 p.m., SCBP will host a “Kicks to Kisses” program at Exclusive Berries, 8807 Two Notch Rd.
Participants will be able to engage in an in-depth conversation about domestic violence in the LGBT community.
In other news, the organization will host its first annual charity spades competition on April 12, 4 p.m., at a location to be announced later.
The winning team will net $200.
Registration is $25/person in a team or $35/person without a team.

Pride seeks theme suggestions
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Upstate Pride SC is seeking theme nominations for its upcoming March and Festival in Barnet Park and downtown Spartanburg.
Suggestions will be accepted through the end of March in order to prepare for annual event on Sept. 12.
“We choose a theme each year that’s empowering to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and even allies,” Keith Keppley, president of the board, said.
“When developing this year’s theme, I think people will have to ask themselves, ‘What is the most pressing issue in the LGBTQ community today?’ and ‘What do I see for the future?’ and ‘What gives me pride?” Keppley added.
Everyone is eligible to submit theme nominations with no limit to how many suggestions someone may submit.
Theme nominations should be sent to president@upstatepridesc.org or posted to the organization’s Facebook wall.
The winning theme, which will be announced on social media,” will be depicted on T-shirts, handouts, posters and other promotional materials.
