Good evening, all. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend in as positive a manner as possible. I know for many of us, this is a dark and difficult time. For those of you who voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, I share your disappointment in the loss and likely the same concerns for our community. Consistently, in conversation with friends and on social media, I am hearing the same question. What do we do now?
I could offer many suggestions I’m sure you’ve already considered, but the most logical conclusion I’ve come to so far? Wait, watch, listen, stay connected to our community and be prepared.
It seems likely most of us are experiencing much of the same thoughts and feelings at this time. I believe it is important we continue to live and enjoy our lives to the best of our ability. I will reiterate, however, stay alert to changes in the world around you and keep in mind, on a state level, we experienced many positive progressive victories.
We explore that in a story included in this newsletter. We also cover many other topics: a look back at the loss of so many friends in the trans community over the last twelve months; reaction from LGBTQ+ crisis hotlines related to the election results; the continuing efforts to help our community still on the mend from the impact of Hurricane Helene and we share a few fun ideas to consider as we approach the holidays.
Stay safe, and try your best to stay sane.
